FBD Hotels & Resorts Announces €7m expansion at Castleknock Hotel & Country Club
- The €7m development will increase room capacity to 190 with the addition of 43 new rooms and three suites;
- Construction to begin in November and completed in early 2018;
- The planned expansion will create up to 100 jobs during construction and 20 permanent roles on completion.
Construction is due to commence imminently on a €7m expansion at Castleknock Hotel and Country Club, says FBD Hotels & Resorts (FBDH&R). The planned 21,280sq ft expansion will create an additional 46 rooms at the hotel, bringing the total number of bedrooms to 190.
FBDH&R is now inviting invitations for tender, with construction expected to begin in November. Up to 100 positions will be created during the construction phase, and a further 20 new full-time positions created at the hotel on completion in early 2018.
The additional 46 rooms planned as part of the development will comprise of 38 standard, 5 superior and 3 deluxe rooms.
As part of the expansion plan, the day spa – currently located on the first floor of the hotel – will move to the ground floor, with the addition of a new aerobics suite and five new treatment rooms. This will increase the overall size of the day spa and leisure centre from 8,825sq ft to 10,760sq ft.
The new day spa and leisure centre will have its own entrance, as well as being accessible from the hotel.
The planning application was lodged in December 2015 with Fingal County Council by Dublin architects, Cantrell and Crowley Architects, on behalf of FBDH&R.

Castleknock Hotel and Country Club is a 117,590sq ft four-star hotel. The hotel currently boasts 144 bedrooms comprising of standard, superior, executive and deluxe executive rooms. The hotel also has four executive suites. The Hotel was AA Hotel of the year winner in 2013/2014.
FBDH&R own and manage three hotels in Ireland including Castleknock Hotel and Country Club, Dublin; Faithlegg House Hotel, Waterford; Tower Hotel, Waterford; and two resorts in southern Spain: La Cala Resort and Sunset Beach Club.
