Castleknock Hotel GM, Guy Thompson “The development means the hotel can meet growing demand from domestic and international visitors and the strength of the Dublin market.”
Castleknock Hotel, part of FBD Hotels and Resorts (FBD H & R), has completed a €7-million development, which includes 52 additional bedrooms, a lavish spa, and two new restaurants.
Begun in January 2017, the development has increased capacity at the award-winning four-star hotel from 138 rooms to 190. 38 rooms are ‘deluxe rooms’ with upgraded amenities; three are deluxe executive suites with a four-poster bed and Jacuzzi bath.
Local construction company BURNS Construction completed the €7-million development on the Castleknock Hotel. The new development also sees the introduction of 25 new jobs – five more than initially anticipated by FBD Hotel & Resorts.
Staying in luxury
The Spa at Castleknock Hotel was built with one purpose in mind: opulence. Guests can relax and unwind with a massage, facial, nail treatment, makeup and tanning session, BIOTEC skincare, or a seaweed bath in one of six dedicated treatment rooms. The Spa is stocked with Elemis and VOYA products, both premium brands that use natural, organic ingredients.
To provide best-in-class service to guests, the Castleknock Spa team have been trained by some of the beauty industry’s top talents, including facial expert Amanda Conroy and Nicola Hill, Elemis’s highest ranked international body trainer.
The Spa complements the hotel’s recently refurbished leisure centre, which features an 18-metre swimming pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, and a gym newly equipped with modern machines and upgraded dressing rooms.
Dining in style
The hotel has also added two new restaurants. Under the guidance of celebrity chef Neil Kearns, Earth & Vine follows a farm-to-fork ethos, serving a contemporary menu of artisanal food sourced directly from local farms and producers.
For more informal occasions, guests can enjoy Italian and Sicilian favourites, with a Castleknock twist at 22 Bar + Restaurant.

Commenting on the finished development, David Kelly, Chief Executive at FBD Hotel & Resorts, said: “The completion of the development at Castleknock Hotel is a landmark moment for us and a fitting end to 2017 which has been another very positive year for our Group. More bedrooms, more luxurious services and more dining options mean we can meet a growing demand from both the local community and the wider domestic and international markets, especially guests from mainland Europe.
“The Spa is a particularly important addition. With an emphasis on premium brands and a premium experience, The Spa makes Castleknock Hotel a real contender in the luxury hotel space.”
